Which Soda is Least Damaging to Your Teeth?
The best thing for your teeth is to limit your intake of soda, but if you want to enjoy a soda once in a while some sodas are less damaging to your teeth than others.
If you are looking a soda that is less harsh on your teeth, you will want one that has the following:
- A Diet Soda – Bacteria use sugars to make acids and cause cavities, so look for a soda that is sugar free.
- No Citric Acid – There are still acids in soda (phosphoric, malic, lactic, etc.), but citric acid is by far the most damaging to your teeth so avoid it at all costs. Be sure to check the ingredients, a lot of sodas have citric acid added as a flavorant or preservative.
One of the best sodas that I have found which fits the above criteria is Diet Dr. Pepper. It has less of the bad things we associate with soda and even tastes good.
