Invisalign and braces are two different approaches used to achieve the same end result: a happier, healthier smile. Treatment modalities are always the patient’s choice, we can achieve the same results using Invisalign – and often in less time with fewer visits, and less discomfort than traditional metal braces. Many people won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing an appliance to straighten your teeth!

The length of treatment depends on the amount of tooth movement required to meet your treatment goals. Most treatments take 10–18 months or less in our office, but ultimately your biology is the limiting factor.

In order to work as designed, your aligners must be worn at least 20–22 hours per day. To most it becomes second nature.

Because we are able to digitally design your treatment, frequent appointments are not necessary. This means that there are fewer total appointments and treatment can be designed around your schedule. Most patients are seen every 3 months.

Invisalign typically does not interfere with speech significantly, though it will feel different talking for the first few days.

Your aligners are removable, which means that there are no restrictions on what you can eat just that you should not eat or drink anything besides plain water while wearing your aligners.

If your insurance plan includes orthodontic benefits, you can use your insurance to help pay for Invisalign treatment. Many “insurance-based” orthodontic practices add additional fees for Invisalign. We do not.

Invisalign aligners are made from a patented SmartTrack polymer developed specifically for tooth movement.

Yes. They are 100% BPA Free.

Brushing your aligners with liquid soap and water, never with toothpaste, and soaking them ever other night in retainer cleaner or diluted bleach will keep each set of aligners fresh during the two weeks you will need to wear that set.

Wearing your retainers is essential to preserving your smile following any comprehensive orthodontic treatment. Since teeth shift throughout life, you will need to wear your retainers at night for as long as you want to keep your teeth straight.

The type of retainers you receive depends on your initial malocclusion. In addition, we offer all our patients the opportunity to participate in our Retainers for Life program – so you never have to worry about lost or broken retainers again.

With Hatcher & Frey Orthodontics, you can use your HSA and FSA  for eligible orthodontic treatment (Invisalign, braces or other appliances) and retention (retainers). Only the portion of your treatment payments not covered by dental insurance or any other insurance plan may be considered an eligible expense.
