Expanding Our Team in Hampton Roads

We recently shared the exciting news of our expansion to two new locations, West Ghent and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Our team is pleased to welcome Dr. Gregory Hutchins, who joins us through the acquisition of his orthodontic practice in West Ghent. With his expertise and experience, Dr. Hutchins will continue to provide exceptional care to patients as a valuable member of our team. Additionally, we are excited to introduce Dr. Valerie LaScala, our newest orthodontic provider. Dr. LaScala brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for orthodontics to our practice, and we are confident that she will further enhance the exceptional care we provide to our patients.

Dr. Gregory Hutchins graduated from Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, VA and achieved an undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University. With a passion to pursue higher education, he was accepted to the Medical College of Virginia where he completed both his Dental and Orthodontic training.

Between his travels to explore the beautiful mountains of New Hampshire, he enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking up fresh herbs and vegetables from his garden and hunting down antique treasures with his wife, Lauren.

Dr. Valerie LaScala graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Nutrition before earning her dental degree at Boston University. While at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, she was recognized for her exemplary clinical skills with the Gentle Dental Award for Clinical Excellence. Passionate about creating beautiful smiles, she furthered her education with an orthodontic residency at the University of Colorado, earning the Rocky Mountain Award for Overall Excellence. Her mission is to foster a fun atmosphere where patients feel informed and self-assured throughout their orthodontic journey.

In her free time, Dr. LaScala enjoys snuggling up with her dog, reading books, traveling to new destinations, savoring iced coffee, and scuba diving.

Our additional providers will allow us to continue to grow Hatcher & Frey Orthodontics while remaining focused on exceptional care at our five locations.
